Medicare Advantage 2020
The strength of a Medicare Advantage plan is that it can cover medical expenses other insurance policies do not. If you find yourself not properly covered by the plan that you have, then you should look into Medicare Advantage 2020 and see if it has what you are looking for. These plans are diverse enough that people with different needs can use them to cover themselves adequately. We urge seniors to consider Medicare Advantage and what it can do for them for the coming year.
The Coverage of Medicare Advantage
If you sign up for any Medicare Advantage plan, then you are guaranteed a certain level of coverage. This takes care of you for all of Medicare Part A and Part B. That’s the entirety of Original Medicare right there, and that includes coverage for most common inpatient and outpatient services. On top of that, the basic Advantage plan will also cover the cost of your emergency treatments, such as visits to the emergency room and transportation in an ambulance. You can also be covered for urgently needed medical services, such as medical tests, medications, surgery and other procedures and services that are needed for you to continue in good health at that point in your life.
Even the most basic of Medicare Advantage plans will offer this coverage, but many of them do more than that. You can find numerous Advantage plans that will cover you for prescription drug costs, and these will be labeled as Part D Advantage plans. This just means it covers Medicare Part D, which applies solely to prescription drug costs, and it offers tiered coverage that will take care of all of some medications and some of the cost of others for you.
There are also versions of Medicare Advantage that will cover you for your checkups. They may cover checkups with your optometrist, a hearing specialist or a general practitioner, and they will cover a limited number of checkups per year. They can also cover the cost of prescription glasses and other items that your medical care provider requires you to get.
Before you sign up for any Medicare Advantage plan, be sure that you know what kind of plan you are getting. You want to be certain that you are going to be covered for the essentials.
The Network Options
Any Advantage plans that you apply for will have a network option label. This may be “HMO” or “PPO”. There are some other options, but they are far less common and won’t apply to most people. Let’s look at these two options and what they can do for you.
HMO- This is what most people go with and for good reason. It is cheap, comparatively speaking. HMOs give you full coverage while you receive care on the network, Outside the network, they will not cover you, so be prepared for that and avoid off-network medical facilities if at all possible when you have this type of plan.
PPO- With a PPO plan, you will be fully covered while on the network, but you get partial coverage outside the network. This plan costs more but covers you better than an HMO.
The network for Medicare Advantage 2020 depends on your insurance provider. Each provider has their own network, and many of them intersect with one another. Many different insurers can be partners with the same medical facility, which means that their Advantage plans are honored there.
