Medicare Advantage Texas 2020
Through Medicare Advantage plans, seniors can be covered for many of their inpatient and outpatient healthcare expenses, receiving coverage that gives them peace of mind and keeps their healthcare costs low. The Medicare Advantage Texas 2020 plans are worth a look for any senior residents of the state, as these plans could serve as an economical alternative to the current healthcare coverage.
What’s in an Advantage Plan?
Medicare Advantage is a big coverage plan. There are a few different kinds of Advantage plans, offering different amounts of coverage, but the fact remains that these plans are always going to be bigger, better and more exhaustive when it comes to healthcare coverage than most of the competing plans.
If you just took at the very basic Advantage plans, you can see coverage that extends past what Original Medicare provides. A basic Advantage plan will cover you for Medicare Part A and Part B. It will also cover the cost of any emergency medical care you may need throughout the year as well as for any urgently needed care.
Then you have larger, more expansive Advantage plans to pick from as well. These will cover the cost of routine checkups for general wellness, for vision, and for hearing with your regular medical doctor or with a specialist. They can also cover certain prescription items, such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Also included in many Advantage plans is coverage for Medicare Part D. If you aren’t aware, this is a prescription drug plan that includes coverage for both generic and name brand pharmaceuticals. It gives you different coverage based on which of the Texas Advantage plan carriers you choose. Each insurance carrier offers their own version of Medicare Part D, but the basic idea remains the same with each of them.
How Much Texas Advantage Plans Cost
If you live in Texas and sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan, then you will pay a different rate, in most cases, than what people in other states pay. The rates vary by location, by how much coverage is offered by the plan and by the provider you choose to purchase with. Each insurance provider or carrier will have their own rates. They are allowed to set them for themselves, and that means that there is a lot of variety in the rates.
There are so many different prices available for these plans, that we thought it would be helpful to provide seniors with a way to sort through them all and be able to compare them at a glance. This is why we created this site and its search tool. You can come here and search for the Advantage plan you want and make sure that you are getting a good rate. You don’t have to end up paying more than the average, and you can actually find a very economically priced plan that keeps your costs low and still manages to cover you well.
In Texas, the average price for a Medicare Advantage plan without anything extra on it is about $40 per month, but you can find a number of these plans that are being sold with $0 monthly premiums. When you get a very low premium like that, then you have to make up the cost with a higher deductible. That can work out very well for you and keep your costs low, if you are in relatively good health and only visit the doctor’s office or hospital infrequently throughout the year. Those who have to make frequent visits to healthcare facilities, however, may want to go for Medicare Advantage in Texas for 2020 that has a lower deductible and a more average priced premium.
Who Can Sign Up for Medicare Advantage?
Once you are a senior and are of eligible age (65), then you can apply for a Medicare Advantage plan. You will need to apply at the right time, though, and there is a period called Open Enrollment where you are invited to apply and should expect to be approved for whichever Advantage plan you apply for.
Open Enrollment comes once a year, and it lasts for a couple of months, from October 15th until December 7th. That’s your best time to sign up for Advantage plans, as it gives you your best chance to get the plan you want at a decent price.
If you are not sure if you meet the eligibility requirements because of a pre existing medical condition or because of other health insurance plans you might have, then please get in touch with us. We would be happy to help you out and determine your eligibility for Medicare Advantage.
There are some coverage plans that will conflict with Medicare Advantage, meaning that you would not be able to be signed up for both kinds of plans at the same time. This usually occurs when both types of plans have some similar coverage. For instance, Medicare Advantage often includes cover for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug coverage plan. You can also buy that Part D plan on its own, and you would not be able to do both, since they would overlap. Even if you tried to buy Part D in these two ways from two different insurance providers, you would still get some overlap, and that’s not allowed.
Advantage plans will also conflict with Medicare Supplements, with most union healthcare plans and with most medical insurance plans that come from employers. They work just fine with Original Medicare, though, and you can have your Advantage plan essentially replace Medicare for you and still provide all the same great coverage that helps seniors keep their healthcare costs low.
